Resources for the Long Haul

TM

What if you had a backpack full of things you KNEW could sustain YOU? Not a prescription for wellness written by someone else, but one you personally curate YOURSELF based on what works for YOU!

For many of us who are carers of others (parents, children, first responders, mental health professionals, medical providers, etc.), keeping our cup replenished so that we can support other people feels impossible.  We feel like we “should’ be caring for ourselves, but we can’t figure out how to carve out the time or fight the voice in our head that tells us that the “self care” approaches we’ve tried don’t work or are impossible to sustain.

Lynda Jacobs, LPC and Stacey Leakey PhD, IMH-E® have been working in the fields of mental health, empathic strain, personal & professional growth and development, and trauma responsive approaches for a combined period of 50 years.  They have designed this small group experience to give carers an opportunity to safely ‘try on’ various approaches to evidence-informed care of self, while also noticing what gets in the way of personal care.  Groups allow participants to have an environment of support to explore strategies for care of self.  Each group’s needs shape the experience, and main approaches include mindfulness/meditation, somatic work, reflective practice, exploration of art media, family constellation, and movement. Strategies for managing secondary traumatic stress, burnout, and empathic strain are transformed from concepts into practices.

In between each session, you will be invited to participate in personal prescriptions (prompts/personal offerings) created by Lynda & Stacey after each session to tap into a deeper understanding of yourself and your needs.

What participants are saying

  • As a professional in a space where you are leading or providing treatment to those living with trauma, this is one of the best experiences you can do to learn to care for and sustain yourself in the field. This cohort offered practical tools, connection and shared experience with other professional women. It was the best thing I've done in a long time! Do it for yourself. You won't regret it.

  • This wasn’t about quick fixes or surface-level inspiration. It was about real, lasting inner work, bolstered by the presence of others who understand the weight we all carry and are willing to walk beside you as you navigate it. I left each session feeling not only more grounded, but more resourced—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually—for the long haul.

    CP, Trauma Therapist

  • This 9-month consultation group was an incredible experience. The two leaders fostered a space of deep connection and psychological safety, which allowed for meaningful reflection and growth. One of the things I appreciated most was that the work could be as deep and transformative as each participant chose to make it. For those willing to lean in, the impact was truly life-changing.
